Dhanapala Turns Down Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Portfolio

According to ColomboPage, the Sri Lanka Internet newspaper, career diplomat Jayantha Dhanapala, head of the Peace Secretariat, has reportedly declined an offer made by President Chandrika Kumaratunga for the vacant Foreign Minister portfolio."

This compensation or "blood money" is not news; it was reported weeks ago. The police have never tried to hide it - in fact, they are pretty convinced that compensation is in order, since they have killed an innocent.

These reports are from JULY. The police clearly screwed up and need to explain why, but paying compensation to the family is not a secret, coverup, or scandal.
